Elderly Woman Killed on Arlington Street

An elderly woman was killed on Saturday evening crossing a street in Arlington after she was struck by a Honda driven by another elderly woman.
Firefighters and Arlington police responded to the 1300 block area of Massachusetts Avenue where the victim, identified as Helen Doyle, 77, of Arlington was struck by a 2009 Honda Civic driven by a 76-year-old Brooklyn woman, whose name was not released.
As informed by Arlington police, Doyle sustained head trauma and was transported to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, where she later died.
The driver remained at the scene. Police informed that the victim was not in the crosswalk at the time of the crash and had tried to cross the street “approximately 250 feet from the intersection with Park Avenue.”
Driver was not charged with any felony and the incident remains under the investigation by Arlington police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
Arlington police Chief Frederick Ryan said, “This is a tragic incident involving the loss of life in our community.”
